Newly released data illustrates how much rents and home prices in the DC area have risen since the pandemic.
A new Zillow report finds that home values and rents around the country rose twice as fast as normal since 2020.
"The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic five years ago was the catalyst for massive changes in the housing market," Zillow reported. "Since then, home values across the U.S. have surged by 45.3%, packing more than a decade’s worth of typical growth into just five years."
In the DC region, home values are up 31% since February 2020, while rents are up about 23%. For a more granular look at home prices in the area over the last decade, take a look at the analysis that UrbanTurf did earlier this month.
